Weihnachten in Kleinkrautkirchen ist ein sehr schönes Fest, und natürlich gibt es hier auch in fast jeder Wohnung und auf jedem Platz in der Stadt Tannenbäume. Schon in der Adventszeit sieht man überall die festlich geschmückten Tannenbäume, über und über voll langer Sauerkrautfäden, die toll auf dem dunklen Tannengrün aussehen. Es wird sogar behauptet, dass das der Ursprung des Lametta war, das in anderen Gegenden, wo es nicht so viel Kappes gab, dem Sauerkraut nachempfunden wurde.Nicht jeder wird wissen, dass das Lametta tatsächlich ursprünglich hier seine Wurzeln hat, allerdings nicht in Form von Stanniol oder Plastik, sondern - na klar, Sauerkraut. Sauerkraut schmückt so einen Tannenbaum ganz perfekt, so strohfarben in dunkelgrün sieht sehr festlich aus. Natürlich ist das Original immer noch am schönsten.
Überall werden nun die Kleinkrautkirchener Krautchriststollen gebacken, die mit etwas Sauerkrautsaft verfeinert werden welcher dem Stollen die besondere Kleinkrautkirchener Note gibt. Sehr lecker sind auch die obligatorischen Käsekrautkrustenkekse mit Kiwicremekern, eine süßsaure Spezialität. Das Rezept ist total geheim, und es wird immer nur an zwei Personen weitervererbt. Viele haben schon probiert, dieses tolle Gebäck nachzubacken, aber nie wurde das Original bisher erreicht. Krautkrapfen sind auch beliebt, besonders bei Kindern, und es wird behauptet, dass sie total gesund sind und nicht dick machen.
Natürlich sind in Kleinkrautkirchen auch viele im Shopping-Stress, und alle Geschäfte sind rund um die Uhr geöffnet. Geschenke müssen einfach sein, bekanntlich erhalten sie die Freundschaft, und nehmen ist genauso schön wie geben. Nett verpackt mit einer hübschen Krautschleife liegen sie dann unter dem Weihnachtsbaum und werden nach dem Festmahl, bei dem die Krautgefüllte Gans nicht fehlen darf, geöffnet. Danach gibt es Krautcracker, in denen immer ein sinnvoller Spruch wie zum Beispiel „Wer anderen eine Grube gräbt ist Bauarbeiter“, „Die Axt im Haus erspart den Scheidungsanwalt“, oder „Wie man hineinfrisst so schallt es heraus“ versteckt ist. Das ist meist lustig, aber nicht immer. Schließlich geht man noch in die Kirche und singt dort „O Tannenbaum“ mit der Kleinkrautkirchener Strofe:
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
voll Kappes deine Blätter
Das Kraut, es wächst zur Sommerzeit,
und schmückt im Winter stets dein Kleid
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
so schön bei jedem Wetter.

Christmas in Kleinkrautkirchen is a lovely festival, and of course there are Christmas trees in almost every home and on all the public squares throughout the town. It starts in advent that you see beautifully decorated Christmas trees everywhere, Presumably there is quite a big number of folks who do not know that the widespread custom of throwing tinsel over the branches of the trees has its roots right here. However, the original form of this kind of decoration has only survived in Kleinkrautkirchen, whereas in other parts of the world they use plastic or metal which looks like it. Everybody starts baking the speciality "Kleinkrautkirchener Krautchriststollen", which gets its very special character through the very special local ingredient Sauerkraut-juice. A must, just as delicious, are "Käsekrautkrustenkekse" with a kiwicreamcore , a swaet-and-sour local delicacy made with cheese, Sauerkraut, and yeast. The recipe is a secret passed on from generation to generation to only two very trustworthy people. Many have tried to copy these extraordinary biscuits, but they have never reached the original. Cookies named "Krautkrapfen" are quite common, too, and loved especially by kids. They are supposed to be healthy and said to not make you fat.
Of course in Kleinkrautkirchen like everywhere else many people are stressed with shopping for Christmas, and all the shops are open around the clock. Presents are important, as you might know, they maintain friendships and relationships, and taking is a sleast as nice as giving. Beautifully wrapped with a Sauerkraut ribbon completed with a bow they usually lie under the Christmas tree waiting to be unwrapped after the festival meal, where the goose stuffed with Sauerkraut is usually appreciated as the best choice for this occasion. Afterwards there are "Kraut-crackers", with a wise saying hidden inside, like „The early bird catches a cold“, or „People who live in glass houses should not fire the window-cleaner". This is sometimes funny, but not always. Finally it is the custom to go to church and sing the famous carol "O Christmas tree" with a special stanza from Kleinkrautkirchen. Here is a translation:
